I finally tested the 24-hour blood pressure monitor by Biobeat! The technology is based on reflective photoplethysmography (PPG), which is a noninvasive optical method for measuring heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and a number of other cardio-pulmonary parameters. Biobeat's wearable devices are the first FDA-cleared and CE Mark-approved devices for cuffless non-invasive blood pressure monitoring using PPG alone. The device's portability and lack of discomfort were features I particularly appreciated. Even a conventional Holter monitor is clunky, heavy, and uncomfortable to wear, especially at night. I was required to take reference measurements with a traditional blood pressure monitor before placing this device on my chest. You’re not allowed to exercise or take a shower for 24 hours to prevent the device from falling off. As soon as the 24-hour period ended, a PDF file containing my results was generated and I could send it to my GP. (I've attached a couple screenshots of the file.) This wearable device is an excellent example of a user-friendly and convenient wearable for patients. Disclaimer: As usual, I don't accept any kind of sponsorship for such reviews.
